10:38 pm - Long Beach Update...

So right now Long Beach is doing indoor. We're Independent Open Class now because we lost alot of our drummers. we should be getting some new marimbas and vibes in soon. we're playing it by ear but as it stands we're going all out.

we're doing a pat mattheny show, we're doing first circle, sunday morning and anora so far. it's going to be intense.

7:42 pm - A Long Beach Indoor Update:

Okay so our band council met with our band director today and here is the deal w/ Long Beach. If we can get enough donations we will be able to compete, because no one can afford the fee and half our city is gone(the half that provides the money for us) we can't fundraise for 3 years or charge fees for the students. We lost quite a few members so we're going independent and bringing back our old memebers into the drumline and guard, our pit should be okay. We're starting to come up w/ themes and everything so I'm pretty positive we'll be able to compete, plus we're getting a big truck donated to us so we won't have to rent a u-haul for every trip. And we already raised enough money before the 'cane hit us that we can have buses. So just wish us luck, if anyone could send money let me know and I'll send you the address of the band hall. Thanks.
I talked to Harrison Central's Drum Instructor and they didn't get that bad of damage to their percussion instruments so I don't know if they're competing, they still have alot of businesses while Long Beach we don't really have any bussinesses standing. But thanks again for your help! Tale care!

5:10 pm - Help!

Hey this is Catherine from Long Beach Indoor. I'm pretty positive you've heard about Katrina. Alot of our members have lost homes or have been badly damaged. With our tax base wiped out and all of us short of money we are wanting to continue w/ our indoor to keep things normal for us. If there's anyway you can help (donations of money or supplies) email me at: die_katzu@yahoo.com and I will send you the address of our band hall. If you can't give money maybe say a prayer for us or something, we really need help. Thanks!

Take care.

well I'm new but now to the point.

I did, and we didn't do as well as we wanted...but i still had a blast. I met like the cutest guy every from California on the Mission Viejo Scholastic World line. Wow was he a looker!

lol anyways, I am from Michigan (Waterford Mott Drumline - Scholastic A all the WAY!!!...look at 'dem ninjas!) and yeah I just had a really awesome time in Dayton and was wondering where everyone was from, how they competed, and all those details! get back to me ASAP...I'm dying to talk about Dayton to somebody who cares!!!

So who's going to the Hayward Percussion regional next weekend.
I'm in the Mariner High School Percussion Ensemble and we'll be there.
We play last in the Open class. (Marching of course.)

Yeah, if you're going, you're obligated to cheer us on.
This year's show is influenced by The Killers, Blink 182, Green Day, & Muse.
Title: These Are The Voices in My Head.
Its about our center snare and the voices/thoughts that go on in his/any other teenage male drummer's head:
Sex, Love, Music, and of course Drumming. As well as self-esteem issues, etc.

Uh. Anyway. Yeah.

Hello everyone, I’m new here so I thought ill just introduce myself. I’m from Lakeland it’s a lil ol' high school in Michigan and our drum line is pretty good. This is our first year every having a winter line and I’m very excited. Though I don’t know what to expect our instructor says we will panic at our first couple of show. I have only seen one winter line show ever if you can believe it or not. That was Northcoast’s show last year and I really enjoyed it. And I was going to try out but we have a line at my school so I can’t. But anyways I just want to say that I really enjoy percussion even though this is my second year. And best of luck to everyone this season.

I have a moment in between wrapping Christmas presents, so I thought I'd post.

What's everyone doing this year? Our show is Tchaikovsky's 4th symphony. It's incredibly fast x_x I come out of rehearsals with a headache.

Anyway, I hope your everyone's indoor season is going well :D Here at Portsmouth we've hit a few bumps and will continue to do so, but I guess we're doing alright.

I just watched the DVD from San Diego -- well, I watched us, Mission Viejo, and Ayala. Every time I watch a video of us performing, I can't help but laugh at how incredibly goofy some of our members look :D But we have fun, and I guess that's what counts.

woo finally had tryouts yesterday. then today in class some people had to go again since the scoring was really close. we ended up taking 6 snares and 3 tenors. basses and cymbals will be hammered out tomorrow at rehersal. we are taking 5 basses and probably 6 cymbals, if we can get 6 that can march in time. im just so happy we can finally move to music and get off exercises i've been playing for 4 years.

well my band director won't let me play mallets this year because i blew my wrist out AGAIN during auditions yesterday. so now i am synthesizer 1....hooray (note the sarcasm in my voice). not to mention he has put me in charge of auxillary...grrrr. well at least he let me in the ensemble this year. i may even be getting surgery on my wrist so maybe it's for the better.
